Over the last few days we began to talk about winter and some of the things we know about it. We know that in the winter it’s very cold and we need coats, scarves, gloves, and boots when we go outside.

It’s so cold that water turns to ice outside. We noticed ice out in our parking lot. It was slippery to walk on and hard and cold to the touch. We made our own indoor ice by filling up some containers with colored water and putting them in the freezer. Soon we will explore with it in different ways  – what will happen when we hold it in our hands? What will happen if we break it? We’re excited to find out.

We looked at pictures of snowflakes and discussed that every snowflake is different. We made snowflakes by gluing popsicle sticks together in creative ways. Everyone of the children’s snowflake is different, just like real snowflakes!

We played a mitten matching game. We looked really hard at each mitten to see which ones had the same details and which had different ones. It was fun when we found a match!!

We also played with pretend snow. It looks a lot like the real stuff but it’s not cold!

Shabbat Shalom! Stay warm!
